Warmest wishes for you and your beloved ones. With big love and hugs!  Director of NGO "Kultūros artelė" Odeta Abromaviciute and my International team!

GERT HOFF DONATES TWO MILLION LITAS TO VILNIUS
\'\' A press conference took place on 29 December 2008, at which New Year celebration events in Vilnius were presented. Almost on the New Year’s Eve it turned out that the Government is able to finance out of the money collected from taxpayers only a part of the planned performance. Without sincerity of Mr. Hoff himself at the press conference, the major sponsor of the event would not be revealed at all. Fortunately, folk wisdom proved out this time again: sooner or later the fat is in the fire. Program managers, coordinators, initiators, and executors of Vilnius – European Capital of Culture (VECC), who have been organising VECC events and projects since 2006, are still supposed to return to Mr. Hoff the remaining LTL 1.5 million. \'\' NGO “Culture Artfact” has consulted the band on art management issues. We have jointly organised some concerts and elaborated a vision. Finally, thanks to sponsors, the Department of National Minorities under the Government of Lithuania, information sponsors, our partners, and friends, sounds of their passionate music will contribute to the events of the project “Vilnius – Capital of European Culture 2009“ (Lithuanian abbreviation – VEKS). Artistic Director of the CD Mr. Ishtvan Kvik and the entire creative team rejoices at the professional growth of “Sare Roma” and the possibility to address the society in the language of art. The new CD named “Daugiau ugnies” / More Fire (the initial name “Žalios akys” / Green Eyes) contains 13 songs, so probably the magic of the number or maybe an outburst of Roman passion and free spirit will set sparks in the fireplaces of your homes in January 2009 already. One of the songs in the CD says: “More, more fire, Romella... more, more passion, terra..., let guitar and violin play, Roman song let iterate“.  More about...

"CELLO OCTET CONJUNCTO IBERICO" IN VILNIUS CITY HALL
\'\' On 26 October 2008, the respected Lithuanian audience had an unique opportunity to hear the program performed by the cello players "Cello Octet Conjuncto Iberico" (NL) in Vilnius City Hall. NGO “Culture Artfact” got acquainted with the collective in 2005. Having had several meetings with it in the Netherlands, we have discussed the possibility of organising concert and educational programs and presenting them to Lithuanian audience. They have agreed to cooperate in giving master classes to young cello players in Klaipėda and Panevėžys (under the project “Create in Lithuania 2008”). We have also discussed the possibility of organising a joint project with the choir “Jauna Muzika”, yet thanks to traditional methods of fund allocation we did not get any funding from the Ministry of Culture of Lithuania for realization of the ideas. Again, we are witnessing unfair actions on the side of the Public Institution “Vilnius – European Capital of Culture” and the Public Institution “Vilniaus festivaliai”. We value this as their ability to avoid cooperation and “pirate” somebody’s best ideas generated for different invitations to tender and contests. Anyway, wonderful moments are guaranteed for the audience every time “Cello Octet Conjuncto Iberico” (NL) is on the stage. See you at the World Music Days on October 26, 21:30, in Vilnius City Hall! JŪRATĖ KEMEKLYTĖ’S GRAPHIC ART EXHIBITION
An exhibition of graphic art works by Jūratė Kemeklytė will be open on May 19-24, 2008 , in the ‘Akademijos’ Gallery (Vilnius). The exhibition gives a sense to the completion of her studies. This is kind of a mini-retrospective, which consists of works done using the classical etching, dry needle, aquatic techniques, new photopolymer technique, and drawings. The entire exhibition enables one to see the ways the artist has walked and the trends she has opened for herself. The exposition also contains a part of her works pertaining to her bachelor cycle ‘Laiko skylės’ (Holes in Time). ‘I have undertaken them for the purpose of reflecting the duality that lies in alteration and time. Monotonous flow is muddled by both, unexpected and foreseeable (rhythmical) events. Time is intangible, yet its uniqueness is felt through change of events, which make it kind of tangible. Holes are the symbols of events that might take place.’ More...

PRESENTATION WORKS OF AMERICAN GLASS ARTIST IN THE "GALLERY XX"
\'\'    The acquaintance of NGO Culture Artfact with world-famous American glass artist Mark Eckstrand took place after the first shooting of the LTV and SEB Bank’s project ‘Vertas milijono’ (Worth a Million), where the idea of promoting the glass art in Lithuania was presented. Aiming at demonstrating the possibilities of the glass art outdoors and in modern interior more forcibly, two photo albums of impressive works of Mr. Dale Chihuly, an American called ‘the God of glass’, were introduced to the honourable commission and members of the board of the TV project. The albums were delivered as a Christmas gift by the famous artist’s office in 2006. In the process of collecting information and aiming at implementing the fragile dream, my ways have once again brought me to my hometown Panevėžys. A new acquaintance with another famous American glass artist, Mr. Mark Eckstrand, supplemented the string of ideas and invoked some new ideas of cultural cooperation in promoting the art of glass. Having set a studio and his home in Panevėžys, the artist Mark Eckstrand celebrated his fifty-fourth birthday on the 4th of March 2008. On that occasion, personal exhibition of the author’s works was opened in the Gallery XX of Lithuanian Artists’ Association (Laisvės sq. 7, Panevėžys). The exhibition will be open on 7th to 20th March 2008. You are kindly welcome to visit it! Photo gallery.  More...

WEST AFRICA: OPEN FOR CULTURAL EXCHANGE AND COOPERATION
\'\' Meanwhile the climate, lack of sun in Lithuania and political disharmony troubles the humanity of the developed world, one may carelessly start dreaming of… Africa, hot sun, rest and building of exotic cultural bridges, and… dreams magically come true. Invited by foreign partners, I have visited West Africa, the Republic of Kenya to be specific. Although it was the time of risk bearing political zest, the Peace Treaty (50% - 50%) was finally signed in Nairobi on the 28th February 2008, which put a period to the conflict that was taking place in the country for as much as 21 year. More information on the journey will be provided soon. While I am working on summing up my impressions, you are welcome to visit the PHOTO Galery and and take a virtual safari in the National Park of Nairobi, "Kitengela Glass" (in an amazing kingdom of glass, where Mr. Anselm Croze, a German artist originating from Lithuania, and his creative team lives and works), great Hotel "Fairview", Danish cultural life legend "Karen Blixen museum" (the film ‘Out of Africa’ starring Meryl Streep was shot here), Daphne Sheldrick’s shelter for wild elephants, where and how to make national braids, Bomas of Kenya  and etc.) . It might help you forget your routine for a short while...

AN EXHIBITION OF WORKS BY ALGIMANTAS ALEKSANDRAVIČIUS ‘With love to Samogitia’
\'\' One of the most talented Lithuanian photographers Algimantas Aleksandravičius, the Samogitian man, who has considered Panevėžys as the city of his creative work for twenty five years, opened the exhibition ‘With Love to Samogitia’ in Panevėžys Photo Gallery. In fact, the author admitted that he had forgotten the long-planned exhibition as he was drowning in work. Yet, once he received a reminder on his promise, he had things to demonstrate, particularly considering the fact that his most recent photos were taken in his homeland or the biological land, as he calls it, and not just any day, but on the All Soul’s Day and Christmas Eve, when ghosts appear, and those who are willing to feel them may particularly sensitively touch the footprints of Daukantas, Žemaitė... Valentina ŽIGIENĖ. More...

"SEB VERSLO MENAS" – AN ATTEMPT TO BUILD AN UNSELFISH BRIDGE THAT JOINS ART AND BUSINESS

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!
\'\' Dear all, thank you for another meaningful, nice and creative year. Thank you for your patience and tolerance in the development and implementation of projects, for belief that better days for the people of culture and creators are yet to come... I would like to thank everybody for being together, for your support, acknowledgements and sincerity. I would also like to thank evil-minded people for the obstacles they create, which can be overcome anyway. Let our homes be filled with cosy warmth, the smell of cinnamon, the light of a fireplace, and let the close ones envelop us with their love, peace and serenity. I wish you merry and cosy Christmas in your heart, and an extraordinary celebration of the New Year! Let the New Year be fuller and more serene, creatively active and productive for artists and creators. Let’s hope that representatives of Lithuanian business will become our equal partners and companions in the implementation of noble and selfless ideas. I wish to hear the saying ‘An artist is the sponsor for business’ less often from the mouth of officials. Artists are an inherent part of Lithuania’s development. Let’s help each other to remain HUMAN. LET FAITH, HOPE AND LOVE BE WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY! A group of talented people and active citizens of Lithuania, young artists and performers.
