They protect us, spread serenity, and help overcome stress", claims talented artist Renata Laučkienė. A presentation of the project “Create in Lithuania: A Touch of Angels” organised by NGO “Culture Artfact” took place at the Church of the Lithuanian Martyrs in Berčiūnai (Panevėžys district) on Sunday 6 December 2009 at 14:00. PHOTOS OF ”ART BALTICA 2009” PRESENTED FOR PROFESSIONAL JUDGEMENT

\'\' On 13-20 September 2009, the 32nd Seminar of the Association of Lithuanian Photoartists took place in Nida. It was also attended by Jorė (Jurgita Treinytė), pedagogue at the 3rd International Summer Art Academy “Art Baltica 2009” and photo-artist. For Jorė, creative work is a way of self-expression, a kind of “salvation” from everyday routine. The author presented some photos from the forthcoming photo album. Competent valuators of the workshop and members of the Association of Photoartists gave a positive evaluation of works of the young photo-artist. “The reportage required extensive efforts. Photos are interesting to look at even to those, who did not take part in the event. This is quite an achievement for a photographer!”, noted photography critic Skirmantas Valiulis, rejoicing at and interesting and relevant theme picked by Jorė: socially-sensitive pupils of children foster homes. Taking a closer look at the photos, one may observe the palette of children colours. The specific layout of the photos in the album render an additional dimension and deeper meaning. Participants of the Seminar of Photoartists wished a bright future to the young talents, creative people and organisers of the event captured in the photos, as well as thanked for sharing the spirits of the artistic summer. At the time being, we are looking for sponsors, who could contribute to organising an exhibition and the publication of the photo album with descriptions “ART BALTICA 2009”. More...

MUSIC PASTICHE DEVOTED TO CONGRATULATE JŪRATĖ STATKUTĖ DE ROSALES

\'\' On Wednesday 09 September 2009, at 12:10, “Music pastiche” congratulated Jūratė Statkutė de Rosales, who lives in Caracas, the capital city of Venezuela, on her 80th anniversary. In her books, based on thoroughly checked manuscripts, Chronicle of Alfons X of the XIII century in particular, the researcher of the old language studies and history sort of continues the evidence collected by Marija Gimbutienė that state and culture of the Balts has a history of four thousand and not one thousand years! The “journey” to the times of Egyptian pharaohs, nascence of Sanskrit, Roman Empire (by the way, conquered by our ancestors at least two times), pages of books by Jūratė Statkutė take us to, makes one’s head swim... These are the facts, responsibly and eloquently presented by the author, highly appreciated by foreign authorities but... still unappreciated and unknown in Lithuania. The show was attended by Mr. Leopoldas Krušinskas, the publisher of the author’s book “Senasis aisčių giminės metraštis” (THE OLD CHRONICLE OF THE BALTS), and Mr. Gabrielius Gikis, an active disseminator of information on the old history of the Balts. Efforts were made to reach Ms. Jūratė Statkutė de Rosales by phone. The second part of the show reminded us of Mr. Nicola Jomel, an interesting Italian composer born almost 300 ago, as well as his works. Host: Jūratė Vičienė.

LET'S CREATE IN LITHUANIA BODLY!

\'\' They say that, as time passes by, standing water gets polluted, muddy and starts smelling bad. To avoid that, water must have springs and someone must take care of them. Doesn’t it also apply to human beings and the society? When there is no refreshing wind or no new people or ideas in a certain field for a long while then that field starts fossilizing and floundering, as well as having a bad “smell”: boredom and stagnation expand beyond that field and “infect” other fields as well. Eventually, someone finds oneself in a swamp. And someone else gathers and starts looking for some ways and means to restore the purity of water...This year, participants of Algirdas Karalius’ project “The Power of Persistence”, Association “Kites of Joy”, Turkish teachers-performers (Mr. Zafer Yümlü, Mr. Tuğrul Göğüş, Mert Kayali and Süleyman Yildirim are members of the chamber ensemble "Feverish") and Kaunas Veda Culture Centre joined the team of the private NGO “Culture Artfact”. VIRGINIJUS KAŠINSKAS PAITING EXHIBITION ON LITHUANIA MYTHOLOGY
\'\' At this personal painting exhibition, I demonstrate paintings on Lithuanian mythology. The works were painted in Samogitia (Žemaitija), close to Tverai, in the Lopaičiai ethno-mythology complex, which consists of Lopaičiai hill fort and shrine hill. They say that some elements of the ancient Lithuanian sacred place have remained on the shrine hill (shrine-oracle house): stones marked with signs and faces, and a sacred spring. There is a bowl-shaped stone and a barrow with a wreath of stones on the left bank of the rivulet Aitra, behind the rivulet, on the hill. They say that it used to be a spiritual centre and the place of cult ceremonies of Samogitians. Huge round stones or their groups are located there, and the Sun and the Moon pits are still visible. Author: Virginijus Kašinskas.

THE 4TH CONGRESS OF LITHUANIAN CULTURE
\'\'The 4th Congress of Lithuania Culture took place on the 9th of May 2009, in Lithuanian Academy of Science. It was chaired by the philosopher Krescensijus Stoškus, who expressed his joy over the fact that on the eve of the Congress artists gathered for a protest action at the Parliament, as this demonstrated that the movement had started. “This is a great winning for the cultural society, which has been unable to achieve that earlier. Now, however, we must consolidate. This Congress of Lithuanian Culture should serve as an impulse for the bright people, who feel pain with regard to the things that are taking place. We just have no other options. We either join our forces or founder”. More...

\'\'On the 9th of May 2009, the Public Institution “Culture Artifact” received from the foundation of Jūratė Statkutė de Rosales and Česlovas Gedgaudas a unique book THE OLD CHRONICLE OF THE BALTS. This study is the most important work of Ms. Jūratė Statkutė de Rosales, the well-known researcher of the far past of Lithuania, who lives in Venezuela. The book was developed on the basis of her Spanish book “Los Godos” (Caracas, 1998).. The book generated great interest of readers in Spanish-speaking countries, thus its second edition was published in Venezuela in 1999. GERT HOFF DONATES TWO MILLION LITAS TO VILNIUS
\'\' A press conference took place on 29 December 2008, at which New Year celebration events in Vilnius were presented. Almost on the New Year’s Eve it turned out that the Government is able to finance out of the money collected from taxpayers only a part of the planned performance. Without sincerity of Mr. Hoff himself at the press conference, the major sponsor of the event would not be revealed at all. Fortunately, folk wisdom proved out this time again: sooner or later the fat is in the fire. Program managers, coordinators, initiators, and executors of Vilnius – European Capital of Culture (VECC), who have been organising VECC events and projects since 2006, are still supposed to return to Mr. Hoff the remaining LTL 1.5 million.
