Exhibition EUROPEAN BIRTHDAY
At the opening of the international cultural art project ‘The Seasons: Spring-Summer 2005’ that took place on the 13-20 May 2005, in Lithuania and ‘Europos parkas’, an exhibition of embroidered pictures and wood fretworks by pupils of Panevėžys Principal Boarding-School for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing ‘European Birthday’ was opened and caught interest of guests and participants. The exhibition was committed to one-year anniversary of Lithuania’s membership in the EU. Instructors of the pupils - Danutė Kriščiūnienė, Palmira Stančauskienė, Rita Kasparienė and Ramūnas Kabelis.
Since the events of the project and visits to Lithuania were committed to one-year anniversary of Lithuania’s membership, organisers of the exhibition expediently remembered inventive and talented pupils of Panevėžys Principal Boarding-School for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing (director of the school – Danutė Kriščiūnienė). ‘The exhibition of embroidered pictures and wood fretworks ‘European Birthday’ that was organised in the European Sculpture Park (11 km away from Vilnius) caught much attention, and we have heard many nice words with regard thereto’.
The exhibition ‘European Birthday’ was attended by singers of the Royal Breda Male Choir, their support team and fans. Some guests have expressed their wish to acquire all pictures, however, at that time, we only asked them to write down their wishes to the young authors and their instructors. I suppose, this serves as excellent motivation to induce creativity of the pupils for further projects.
